Anticipating Autumn

We're making the most of these hot summer days by staying indoors and designing new items for Fall 2008. Stay tuned for new Makeup Bags and Card collections that will make corresponding fun. And of course, we're always turning heads with our handbags. So if you haven't shopped with us lately, what are you waiting for?

July 23rd was an exciting day for Sunisha Designs as we were proud to feature a wonderful Wedding Story on the local Channel 4's Morning Show. Judi Williams approached us with her wedding gown and asked us to transform it into beautiful couture handbags and ring pillows so that each of her daughters and daughter-in-law could treasure a piece of her beloved dress. If you own or have inherited a wedding gown, you'll want to see what we can do for you. Click to view the segment here.

While we went live locally, our handbags were being admired on the other coast for an exclusive event in California. Sunisha Designs was asked to provide 55 Mini Vintage Sari Totes for Orange Coast Magazine's OC Look Event. This annual event which took place in Dana Point celebrates the best in style from the top designers, chefs, party planners, stylists and more and is an invitation-only event. The event proceeds went to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation in Orange County. We hope the recipients enjoyed recieving our beautiful handmade totes. A special thank you to our seamstress Sylvia Thornton for making this possible.

Testimonial of the Month

"I just wanted to give you some feedback about your web site, your marketing emails, and your style. They are fabulous! I know other entrepreneurs that are selling their wares via the internet, and their emails and websites aren't nearly as appealing as yours. For one, you never have typos and mistakes, which seems minor, but it is huge when it comes to first impressions. Also, your use of language, the word choices you make, all contribute to a feeling of class. Your typesetting, your fonts, now your pictures, all very visually appealing. I can just see you featured in People magazine or In Style magazine one day... it will say, Manisha Joshi started out in her tiny home studio and now has a thriving multi-million dollar business, all while setting trends across the nation....Keep up the good work!"

The Mom-treprenuer Corner

The quote on the cover of Skirt! Magazine this month really rings true. "For peace of mind, we need to resign as General Manager of the universe" as quoted by Larry Eisenberg. How many of us entreprenuers face the daily trials and tribulations of balancing business goals, domestic commitments, social calendars, family time and personal satisfaction? It's not an easy task and on some days, we are more inclined to be a couch potato than research our competitors. I tend to be shy when asking for help. But there's no shame in realizing that to do everything that is demanded from us is not possible all of the time. And to be effective in business, you have to know when to manage and when to delegate. When we are the whole and soul of our business, every aspect falls on our shoulders, but there are ways to unburden yourself. I've found that tossing ideas with friends helps me resolve many of my quandries. Taking a break from work and focusing on domestic duties like simply washing the dishes helps me feel cleansed. Cleaning out a closet and driving to Goodwill makes me feel accomplished. Little things like this add up in a day and the more satisfying the task, the more time we have to experience energy in other areas of our universe. Manage your time well and it will seem like the hours in the day have stretched just for you...for that much-needed peace of mind.

On a Personal Note

We've had a great summer this year with visits from our cousins. Two of them are heading for college and know how to fun while balancing their hobbies and homework. It was hard admitting that they were half our age! And more challenging yet, was staying up with them past the strike of 1:00am. But we had a ball of a time and it's visits like these that really signify the meaning of family. While my family is quite small, Sunil's family could easily outnumber anyone's I know. When there are family weddings or special events on his side, there are representations of all ages from different parts of the globe. You can hear us laughing from miles away - no jokes! Having his cousins visit this summer has inspired me to stay in better touch with family and friends that are far. As I've read before, "a happy family is an earlier heaven".

We would love to see you at our Home Studio & Boutique. Morning, evening, weekend or daytime appointments are welcome. Coffee, tea and something sweet are always on the house.

Sincerely,

Manisha S. Joshi
